Parramatta's de Belin seeks NRL deal

Illawarra Steelers vs. Parramatta Eels | Round 7, 1997 | Condensed Match | NRL

Papua New Guinea's World Cup campaign gives Jack de Belin a chance to show NRL clubs he can continue playing at the top level.

He is expected to lead the forwards for at least three games.

After the St George Illawarra Dragons did not renew his deal at the end of 2025, de Belin joined Parramatta on a guaranteed one-year contract, with a club option for 2027.

The Eels released him after one season, during which his form took him in and out of Jason Ryles' side.

De Belin told Fox Sports he had turned down offers from England and was still seeking an NRL contract.

"I've had a couple of Super League offers but politely declined them as I definitely want to stay in the NRL and I still have plenty to offer," he told the publication.

A place in the Top 30 of Papua New Guinea's inaugural club is not assured under coach Willie Peters.

With no current NRL club links, de Belin could attract interest on a low-cost deal given his experience.
