The Penrith Panthers are pulling out all the stops to keep hold of their star playmaker, Jarome Luai, as rival clubs circle like sharks in the water.

According to news.com.au, Panthers powerbrokers are ready to sweeten their offer in a bid to secure Luai's services.

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that Penrith will extend their initial two-year $850,000 deal to a three-year contract, synchronizing Luai's contract expiry with that of his close comrade, Nathan Cleary.

Penrith's CEO of rugby league, Matt Cameron, emphasized the club's willingness to wait for Luai's decision, offering him all the time he needs.

Despite earlier reports suggesting Luai would make a choice before returning to pre-season training, Cameron dismissed those claims, revealing ongoing communication between the player and coach Ivan Cleary.

It's clear that the Panthers are leaving no stone unturned as they desperately strive to keep Luai in their ranks, aware that fierce competition lies in wait.
