The Australian Rugby League Commission has announced the upcoming Pacific Championships, which will feature international men's and women's matches in October and November this year.

As part of the event, the Commission has formed a partnership with the Australian Government to promote and develop Rugby League in the Pacific.

The Albanese Government will be collaborating with the NRL to ensure that the Pacific Championships matches can be held in the Pacific region, allowing players to compete in front of their devoted local fans.

The 2023 tournament will consist of six men's teams and seven women's teams, divided into two pools, with the action commencing on October 14.

The men's tournaments will conclude with finals in Hamilton, New Zealand, and Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea on November 4-5.

In addition, the 2023 Championships will feature matches in Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea, with two match days scheduled for each country.

The Pacific Championships will take place in 2023 and 2024, following the NRL and NRLW Premiership seasons, and will feature teams from Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and Cook Islands.
