The NRL has officially launched a groundbreaking health service aimed at retired players, called the 'Past Player Health Screening and Referral Service.'
This initiative comes after a select group of former players participated in initial pilot screenings, with an awareness campaign about the service set to begin shortly.
The primary purpose of this service is to ensure continued medical support and care for athletes after they retire from their professional playing careers.
Eligibility is extended to former elite rugby league players who have played in the NRL (or its equivalent), NRLW, Kangaroos, or Jillaroos.
Among the offerings of this complimentary service are important health screenings and referrals.
Additionally, an NRL Medical Coordinator will guide and support each retired player throughout the entire process.
James Graham, a former player who collaborated with the ARLC on this initiative alongside Mark Carroll, commended the program, highlighting its significance for the sport.
"This is a game-changer," Graham said.
"Every elite player will be able to access expert advice and a full health screening."
