NRL Celebrates Record Revenue and Growth

Happy days: NRL CEO Andrew Abdo and ARLC chairman Peter V’landys.

The NRL has celebrated remarkable achievements in revenue, viewership, and participation as it prepares for crucial broadcast negotiations and expansion plans set for 2025.

Following Monday's annual general meeting, ARL Commission chairman Peter V'landys emphasized rugby league's status as "Australia's - and the Pacific's - number one sport," noting a record operating surplus of $64.8 million for 2025. This follows a surplus of $62.3 million recorded in 2024 by the ARLC.

The league's impressive revenue of $845.6 million marks an increase of nearly $101 million compared to the previous year, fueled by a 20 percent rise in net assets.

These financial gains come at a pivotal moment, as V'landys and NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo are intensifying negotiations regarding the NRL's broadcast deal beyond 2027.

There is considerable pressure to surpass the AFL's $4.5 billion TV rights deal established in 2022.
