In a devastating blow for the luckless Roosters star, Billy Smith's injury woes have struck again, forcing the centre to spend the next couple of months on the sidelines.

Coach Trent Robinson remains optimistic that Lindsay Collins could make a speedy recovery from his hamstring strain, but the news is not so promising for Sandon Smith and the unfortunate Billy Smith.

However, there is a glimmer of hope for the Roosters as halfback Sam Walker has been cleared to play following a category 1 concussion in the victory over South Sydney.

Despite initial concerns from the Roosters' medical staff about the decision, Walker has been given the green light to return to action.

Robinson has voiced his support for the NRL's concussion protocols, acknowledging the importance of impartial doctors in making these crucial decisions.

The coach also highlighted the positive precedent set by previous cases, such as Tom Trbojevic's exemption for an early return after being cleared.

"Although it's a tough break for Billy, we have to trust the process and move forward.

Injuries are a part of the game, and we'll have to rally together as a team to overcome this setback," Robinson remarked in typical sporting fashion.
