The Newcastle Knights have made a tough call on the potential recruitment of front-rower Matthew Lodge, with rumors swirling about a possible move for next season.
Lodge, fresh off a bicep injury, is currently without a contract for the upcoming season and it seems unlikely he will stay put at the Northern Beaches with the Manly Sea Eagles.
After battling back from a ruptured ACL in his knee, Lodge earned a spot on the Top 30 roster this season with the Sea Eagles after a stint with the Sydney Roosters on a humble train-and-trial deal.
Despite whispers linking him to the Knights, reports from The Newcastle Herald's Barry Toohey suggest there's "no chance" of Lodge swapping sea for coal country next season.
