Mitchell Moses is still in the running for a spot on the NSW Blues, with his State of Origin aspirations still intact despite a recent hamstring strain.
The star player of the Parramatta Eels had scans conducted after sustaining the injury during extra training sessions.
However, reports from The Daily Telegraph indicate that Moses could potentially make a return for the second game of the series, as he is projected to be sidelined for two to three weeks.
This injury marks yet another setback for Moses, whose Origin journey has often been marred by physical challenges.
During his absence, NSW has turned to 21-year-old Ethan Strange, a promising talent from the Canberra Raiders, who is set to make his Origin debut in the halves.
Even though Moses is still considered for Game 2, getting back into the squad may not be an easy process, especially if Strange shines on rugby league's grandest stage.
If Moses manages to recover and play for Parramatta prior to the June 17 match, selectors will have the chance to evaluate his fitness and performance in a game setting.
Conversely, should he fail to return before that date, NSW selectors might confront a challenging choice, particularly if Strange excels in his first Origin outing.
