Mitchell's Injury Woes Cast Doubts on Recovery Timeline

Fears grow for Latrell’s immediate NRL future amid uncertainty around star’s nerve damage

Concerns are mounting regarding Latrell Mitchell's nerve damage, with indications it may be more severe than initially believed.

The South Sydney superstar has faced a challenging season plagued by injuries, last appearing in Round 11 due to issues with both his back and calf.

While he seemed on the verge of returning, it was disclosed last week that nerve damage was preventing him from taking the field, leading him to consult a neurologist.

"Mitchell is trying to overcome complex nerve damage that initially created complications with a lower back injury, and now a calf issue in his left leg," stated a Rabbitohs press release.

With the likelihood that his season may be over, the ambiguity surrounding his recovery is causing some distress within the Souths camp.

"It has been reported he might struggle to come back this year. My understanding is that this nerve damage is similar to what Tom Flegler suffered," remarked Crawley during a segment on NRL 360.
