Latrell Mitchell's contract worth is facing scrutiny after the latest injury setback for the Rabbitohs star, which will keep him sidelined for another four weeks.
Mitchell, who has already missed five weeks due to a back issue, was anticipated to return this weekend but sustained a new calf injury during Monday's training at Souths HQ.
This suggests he will likely end this season having played in less than half of the games.
Currently earning approximately $1.1 million annually, Mitchell's incredible performance in the first two months of the season had sparked discussions regarding a possible salary increase, with Code Sports' Brent Read estimating his next deal could be valued at $1.4 million.
Nevertheless, injuries have plagued him since then, a recurring theme during his time at South Sydney, as former teammate Luke Keary pointed out.
"He can flip a game. He's marquee," Keary stated on NRL360.
