Maroons breathe easy as Grant avoids long-term injury

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The Queensland Maroons have received a significant boost as star player Harry Grant has been cleared of any long-term injury to his hamstring, ensuring he will be available for the opening match of the 2025 State of Origin series.

Grant sustained the injury during training, causing him to miss at least two matches for the Melbourne Storm.

While this is a blow to the Storm in the short term, initial fears that Grant could be sidelined for up to six months have been alleviated.

Grant is expected to make his return in Round 10 against the Wests Tigers and is likely to feature in the game against the Cronulla Sharks in Round 11.

However, if any complications arise, Canterbury Bulldogs player Reed Mahoney is the top contender to replace him in the lineup.

Grant's availability for the State of Origin series is crucial for the Maroons, and his presence is sure to strengthen their roster for the highly anticipated match on May 28 in Brisbane.
