Manly send four to Tonga squad

Four Sea Eagles to represent Tonga

Tonga will start their 2026 Rugby League World Cup campaign against England at HBF Park in Perth on Saturday, 17 October.

Four Manly Sea Eagles players-Lehi Hopoate, Tolutau Koula, Haumole Olakau'atu and Taniela Paseka-are in Tonga's 23-man squad, more than from any other NRL club.

The quartet last represented Mate Ma'a Tonga together in the 2024 Pacific Championships final against Australia.

Olakau'atu earned a place in the Dally M Team of the Year after helping New South Wales win the State of Origin series and collecting several Sea Eagles honours.

He has played eight times for Tonga since debuting in 2022, most recently in the 2024 Pacific Championships final.

Koula also has eight Tonga appearances since 2022, and his selection follows a strong season that included his New South Wales Origin debut.

Hopoate led Manly's try-scoring with 19 tries in 23 games in 2026.

He scored five tries across the final three rounds, including two against the Warriors in Round 27, and has made five Tonga appearances over the past two Pacific Championships seasons.

Paseka returned from an Achilles injury to start all 20 of his appearances in 2026 before a knee injury against Melbourne in Round 23 ended his season.
