Magpies down the Jets to claim the Raudonikis Cup

The Western Suburbs Magpies delivered an impressive performance in Round Nine of The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup, defeating the Newtown Jets 28-4 at Henson Park.

Amidst a crowd of 8,972, the Jets were favored, ranking fourth with 12 points, while the Magpies were struggling in 11th with just six.

However, the game changed when Javon Andrews scored the opening try in the 18th minute, showcasing determination despite a broken play.

The first half was tightly contested, with both teams making mistakes. Andrews displayed skill to score, converting to give the Magpies a 6-0 lead.

Just before halftime, the Jets responded through Chris Vea'ila, who capitalized on a backline movement, closing the gap to 6-4.

In the second half, Fainga'a's brief sin binning did not hinder the Magpies. Instead, Heath Mason scored from a well-executed play, extending the lead to 10-4.

Fainga'a's touchdown in the corner further widened the margin to 20-4, followed by Andrews' excellent conversion.

With three minutes left, Solomone Saukuru intercepted a pass and scored, sealing the victory at 28-4.

Charlie Murray stood out for the Magpies, dominating in run meters, runs, and tackles, embodying the team's spirit.
