Brisbane Broncos winger Deine Mariner is recovering in a Sydney hospital after sustaining a severe thigh injury during last night's 38-24 defeat to the Sydney Roosters.
The club has released an injury update confirming that Mariner was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome in his right thigh during the game. He was admitted to the hospital overnight and underwent surgery this morning.
At this moment, the Broncos have not provided a timeline for his recovery. They have indicated that club medical staff are in communication with his surgeon, and a further update will be given in due course.
The night was already challenging for Brisbane as they also lost their captain, Adam Reynolds, due to a head injury, which has ruled him out of their next match.
The injury list continues to grow for the Broncos as they work to regroup before their upcoming game against the Sea Eagles.
