Zac Lomax was recently seen heading to Port Moresby on Saturday, marking a significant step towards his return to the NRL in 2028.
According to fresh reports from CODE Sports, Lomax's trip to the Melanesian nation is aimed at finalising a contract with the PNG Chiefs, adding to the club's impressive roster.
He is expected to sign a deal worth approximately $700,000 over three years, contingent on his satisfaction during his time in Port Moresby.
Lomax's tenure with the Parramatta Eels ended on a rocky note, culminating in a court dispute over a contract conflict between the Western Sydney team and the Melbourne Storm before their Round 1 clash earlier this year.
After expressing interest in joining the Storm mid-season in March, Lomax has turned down a recent offer from them and is set to conclude his stint with the Western Force in 2027.
This indicates that the former NSW winger is poised for a return to the NRL, with the Chiefs leading the race to secure his contract.
Next year, Lomax will continue with his rugby commitments, aspiring for a Wallabies selection by the end of the year, potentially becoming a dual international on a grand scale.
Should he finalize his contract, Lomax would significantly enhance the Chiefs' strong lineup for their inaugural season, which already includes talent like Jarome Luai, Alex Johnston, Connor Watson, and Matty Lees.
Additionally, Joey Manu has been recently associated with the Chiefs, while the Storm have granted Cameron Munster permission to discuss opportunities with the club amid increasing interest from the expansion side.
