Fetu Samoa vice captain Christian Pio expressed his excitement about playing alongside cross-code star Niall Williams-Guthrie in the upcoming Pacific Championships Test against Fiji Bulikula.
Williams-Guthrie, who recently moved to the NRLW after a successful rugby union career representing New Zealand, has been named as the captain for the Samoan squad in the match on October 15 in Port Moresby.
Williams-Guthrie had a remarkable first year in rugby league, playing in every game for the Titans and helping them reach the grand final as runners-up to the Knights.
His inclusion in the squad adds significant experience and skill to the team.
Coach Jamie Soward has also selected other well-known players for the squad, such as Queensland Maroons hooker Destiny Brill and Broncos prop Annetta Nu'uausala.
Nu'uausala, who has previously played 12 Tests for the Kiwi Ferns and was part of last year's World Cup final loss to Australia, brings a wealth of international experience to the team.
With such a talented and experienced squad, Fetu Samoa is looking forward to the challenge against Fiji Bulikula in what promises to be an exciting and competitive match.
The players feel privileged to have the opportunity to play alongside Williams-Guthrie and are determined to give their best performance on the field.
