Leniu Dismisses Exit Rumors from Roosters

Sydney Roosters prop Spencer Leniu has once again dismissed rumors about his potential departure from the club at the season's conclusion.

Earlier this year, concerns arose that Leniu might not remain a Rooster past 2026, with whispers of the PNG Chiefs courting him for 2028 and suggestions that he might take a gap year in 2027.

While the PNG speculation is still present, it has somewhat diminished. Recent reports indicate that the Parramatta Eels are also showing interest in acquiring him for 2027 and subsequent seasons.

This connection to the Eels isn't surprising, as the club is actively seeking to enhance its forward pack and bolster its depth for 2027. Furthermore, Jarome Luai is set to join the Eels for a year prior to his move to Port Moresby.

However, Leniu expressed to News Corp's Newswire that he remains fully committed to the Roosters and has no intention of leaving the club.

"I'm contracted to this club. I love this club, I love the brothers here, and we've got a good thing going into the finals," he stated to the NewsWire.

"My sole focus is just putting my best foot forward for this team and for the club, and hopefully we get a good run into the finals."

Currently, the Roosters are positioned to finish in the top four, thanks in part to Leniu's consistent performances in the middle third for Trent Robinson's squad.

His contract with the Roosters extends until the end of 2027, and he seems poised to fulfill it, mentioning that he doesn't engage with the speculation until it surfaces in his daily conversations.
