South Sydney Rabbitohs player Latrell Mitchell has responded to criticism from rugby league legend Max Krilich over the national anthem debate that has divided the game.

Mitchell joined other Kangaroos Test players including Payne Haas, Kotoni Staggs, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, and Selwyn Cobbo in choosing not to sing the Australian national anthem before the Pacific Cup victory over Samoa.

Krilich had called for players to be stood down from international duty if they refuse to sing the anthem.

In response, Mitchell took to his Instagram story to express his frustration, stating that the Australian anthem isn't inclusive for all and suggesting alternative solutions such as creating a song that includes Indigenous people or changing the date of Australia Day.

Mitchell also voiced his support for the Indigenous Voice to Parliament proposal, which was rejected in a recent referendum.

He concluded his statement by questioning Krilich's "one in all in" mentality and calling for Indigenous voices to be heard.
