Tolu Koula, the child of two Olympic athletes, is set to showcase his talent in the opening State of Origin match, as per Manly coach Kieran Foran.
Koula will debut on the wing for NSW at Stadium Australia on Wednesday night.
At just 23 years old, he possesses remarkable speed and had once contemplated following in his Tongan parents' footsteps in athletics during his school days.
His mother, Ana Siulolo Liku, represented Tonga in the long jump at the 1996 Olympics and also ran the 100m hurdles in Sydney, where she had the honor of being the flag-bearer for Tonga.
Koula's father, Tolutau Koula Snr, participated in the 100m sprint for Tonga across three Olympic Games from 1992 to 2000.
Foran believes Koula will ignite the iconic former Olympic stadium in Sydney similarly to how his parents did 26 years prior.
"Speed, he's got it in spades, he's just so electric," Foran remarked about the promising player.
"You look at some of the tries he's been able to score for us in the early rounds of this season, it's been pretty special.
"I think if he gets half an inch of space next Wednesday night, he'll certainly make the Maroons pay for it."
