The future of veteran outside back Dane Gagai remains undecided by the Newcastle Knights, though it's evident that he is keen to continue his career.
Turning 36 by the start of next season, Gagai, who once represented Queensland in the Origin series, has shown commendable performance this year.
Despite reaching the latter stages of his career, Gagai has expressed his desire to keep playing. His manager, Steve Gillis, recently informed News Corp that the club is currently evaluating Gagai's future and negotiating his contract.
"We're working through it with 'Gags'," Gillis stated.
"He wants to play on."
"He is 35 now but he is in great shape and a great professional."
"His dad played into his 40s in the lower levels of rugby league. Dane will weigh everything up. It's only early in the season so we have plenty of time."
The decision on whether Gagai will receive a new contract for the upcoming season remains uncertain.
The Knights have secured Bradman Best and Dominic Young for next year, in addition to the versatile Thomas Cant, promising young player Fletcher Hunt, and Asu Kepaoa. Additionally, there are rumors that Wilson De Courcey may soon sign a new deal.
