Mitch Barnett, NSW State of Origin star and key prop for the Warriors, will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to a ruptured ACL in his right knee.
The diagnosis followed scans that confirmed the injury after Barnett was assisted off the field during the Warriors' 36-30 victory over South Sydney.
This comes as a significant setback for the Warriors, who are enjoying a strong season and currently sit in second place.
Barnett has played a pivotal role in the team's success and was instrumental in their recent triumph.
His absence will also impact the New South Wales team, particularly as they prepare for their next game against Perth on June 18.
Barnett had made a solid contribution in the series opener, contributing to NSW's 18-6 win.
With Barnett sidelined, Stefano Utoikamanu is expected to be the top contender to fill the vacant spot on the team, as he was already included in the 20-man squad and had served as a standby for teammate Payne Haas.
