Kiwi Ferns eye Waaka's scoring streak

Five Warriors included in Kiwi Ferns' World Cup squad

The Kiwi Ferns have booked a semi-final place after beating Fiji and France, scoring 110 points and conceding 10.

Stacey Waaka has nine tries in 10 NRLW appearances this year and scored a hat-trick in New Zealand's record 92-0 win over France.

That performance took her tally to five tries in her first two Tests, as she prepares to face Papua New Guinea on Saturday.

The pool match is at Cbus Super Stadium in Robina on October 31, 2026, with kick-off at 4.45pm.

Papua New Guinea, known as the Orchids, beat France 58-4 before losing 4-40 to Fiji.

Four NZ Warriors are named: fullback Apii Nicholls, who will earn her 21st international cap, Waaka, second-rower Kaiyah Atai and interchange prop Ivana Lauitiiti.

Head coach Ricky Henry has selected Leianne Tufuga on the wing, Abigail Roache at centre and Shannon Mato at prop.

The starting team also includes Mackenzie Wiki, Zahara Temara, Raecene McGregor, Alexis Tauaneai, Georgia Hale, Shaniece Monchau and Angelina Teakaraanga-Katoa.

McGregor and Hale are listed as captains.

The interchange group is Ashleigh Quinlan, Otesa Pule, Brooke Anderson, Lauitiiti, Tenika Willison, Brianna Clark, Chantay Kiria-Ratu, Trinity Tauaneai and Annessa Biddle.
