Kikau dodges danger, fate's call in the NRL

Canterbury Bulldogs second-rower Viliame Kikau has been found not guilty of dangerous contact by the NRL judiciary.

The charge, a Grade 1 offence, stemmed from an incident where Kikau was accused of making dangerous contact with Parramatta Eels halfback Mitchell Moses while applying pressure during a kick.

The incident resulted in Kikau being sin binned at the time, prompting mixed reactions from fans questioning its severity and potential risk to Moses.

Had Kikau been found guilty, he faced an $1800 fine for an early guilty plea, as it would have been his second offence.

If he had lost his case at the judiciary, the fine would have increased to $2500.

However, as he was acquitted, Kikau will not incur any financial penalties.

More significantly for the Bulldogs, this ruling allows Kikau to maintain a record of only one offence over the last 12 months, which may mitigate future penalties or sanctions as the team aims for the NRL finals.
