In a thrilling twist of fate, South Sydney Rabbitohs speedster Richie Kennar has come out on top in his battle with the NRL judiciary, scoring a downgrade on his careless high tackle charge.
The tackle that landed Kennar in hot water occurred just before the halftime break in the Rabbitohs' heart-stopping clash with the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
With a less-than-ideal track record with the judiciary this season, Kennar was facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines after copping a Grade 2 charge for his high tackle.
However, the determined outside back took the bull by the horns and opted to front the judiciary in a bid to reduce his punishment.
And lo and behold, after a grueling hearing on Tuesday evening, Kennar emerged with a mere Grade 1 offence slapped on him.
This miraculous downgrade means Kennar's penalty has been slashed from missing three matches to just a $3000 fine.
It's a much-needed win for the injury-plagued Rabbitohs, who will now have their speedy winger back in action for the remainder of the regular season.
It's a victory that will surely put a spring in the step of the Bunnies as they strive for glory in the grueling NRL competition.
