Jason Demetriou is on thin ice as reports suggest his time at South Sydney Rabbitohs may be coming to a swift end.

The pressure cooker is on for the embattled coach, with sources indicating that his biggest supporters have deserted him.

Facing a do-or-die clash against Cronulla this weekend, Demetriou needs a miracle to keep his job.

However, even a miraculous victory over the Sharks may only delay the inevitable.

The Rabbitohs are set to face tough challenges against powerhouses like the Storm and Panthers, and will have to do so without star fullback Latrell Mitchell, who is serving a suspension.

After languishing at the bottom of the ladder for the first time in 14 years, Souths' dismal performance against the Warriors only added fuel to the fire.

With just five wins in their last 15 games, the pressure is mounting on Demetriou to turn things around.

In the rough and tumble world of Rugby League, it's sink or swim for Demetriou.

Time will tell if he can rally his troops and stage a comeback, or if his days at the Rabbitohs are indeed numbered.

A true test of character lies ahead for the struggling coach.
