Jarome Luai, the NSW playmaker, found himself in a bit of a sticky situation during the Blues camp.

Lifeguards had to come to his rescue after a playful dare from his teammates turned sour.

Luai, known for his skills on the field, found himself out of his element in the water after being egged on to take on the waves during a recovery session at a wave pool in Sydney's Olympic Park.

Admitting his lack of experience with beaches and waves due to his upbringing in Penrith, Luai bravely accepted the challenge to be the first one in.

However, things quickly went south when he got sucked into deeper waters, requiring the assistance of a lifeguard to bring him back to safety.

This incident harked back to a similar mishap that occurred during a Blues camp in 1999 involving Robbie Kearns and a horse-related injury.

Luckily, Luai emerged from the ordeal unscathed, except perhaps for a bruised ego.

Reflecting on the incident with a touch of humor, he quipped about his near-death experience and lack of beach skills.

Grateful for the lifeguard's intervention, Luai acknowledged his misstep and the good-natured ribbing from his teammates.

In the world of Rugby League, even off-field antics can turn into memorable moments of camaraderie and banter.
