Jai Bowden: Hooking Dreams in Stormy Waters

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Jai Bowden is among the promising young talents emerging from Melbourne Storm's pathways system, aspiring to join the NRL ranks soon.

The Melbourne Storm franchise has a rich heritage of exceptional hookers donning the No.

9 jersey since its inception in 1998 with Richard Swain.

Over the years, prestigious players such as Cameron Smith, Nathan Friend, and Ryan Hinchcliffe, as well as recent notable figures like Brandon Smith and Harry Grant, have made their mark in this position.

Currently, while Grant has been a standout performer as the team's hooker, emerging talents like Bowden and 2022 Peter Sterling Medal winner Gabriel Satrick are making waves in the club's development programs.

Bowden, originally from Queensland, has significantly elevated his game, earning a development contract with the Storm for the 2027 NRL season at the end of last year.

In February, he also received recognition by being named in Queensland's U19s Emerging Origin squad, highlighting his potential as he works towards fulfilling his dream of playing in the NRL.
