On Saturday night, South Sydney held their red and green ball, celebrating the conclusion of the NRL regular season at The Star in Sydney.
This grand event featured players and their partners dressed to the nines, with Jai Arrow receiving significant attention for being honored with the Bob McCarthy Club Person of the Year award.
The 31-year-old Arrow, who has been openly fighting Motor Neurone Disease, won this award for the second consecutive year. His "bravery and leadership" throughout the season earned him this recognition.
His great friend, Cody Walker, presented the award named after the club's legendary former captain, noting, "He's been a huge inspiration to us all this year." Arrow was visibly moved as a video montage played in his honor, prompting a standing ovation from the audience.
The Rabbitohs emphasized Arrow's impact, stating, "Arrow has brought together the Rabbitohs team, club and the rugby league world like never before, all while facing the battle of his life." They commended his embodiment of the South Sydney spirit on and off the field.
Fans and fellow players took to social media to express their admiration. One fan remarked, "Brings tears to my eyes again. What a champion player, person and club." Another added encouragement, stating, "Keep fighting Jai, you are doing so well."
Other awards presented that night included Cameron Murray winning the George Piggins Medal for Player of the Season, while Tallis Duncan was named Fans' Player of the Year. Latrell Siegwalt secured the club's Rookie of the Year title.
Meanwhile, at the Melbourne Storm presentation night, Eli Katoa received the Michael Moore Trophy for Club Person of the Year, despite not playing this season due to a brain injury. Sua Fa'alogo took home the Player of the Year award, and Cooper Clarke was named Rookie of the Year.
