The Penrith Panthers may see a crucial player return earlier than expected, as captain Isaah Yeo is a possibility for Sunday's game against the Wests Tigers.
Yeo has been sidelined since he sustained a pectoral injury during the first half of a 28-12 defeat to the Warriors in New Zealand.
This injury raised concerns about the Panthers' chances in the finals, leading to fears that his season was finished.
Fortunately, it turned out that Yeo did not need surgery, and he has made remarkable strides in his recovery.
Coach Ivan Cleary confirmed Yeo's inclusion on the extended bench for the upcoming match, indicating hope for his return.
"It's definitely a chance," Cleary remarked, acknowledging Yeo's progress.
"We have to get through the next couple of days, but it has been a pretty good process so far."
Cleary noted how Yeo's recovery has unexpectedly exceeded initial expectations.
"It's quite extraordinary at this point," he commented, emphasizing the resilience fostered within the team.
"the culture has been built on many things, and being resilient is one of those things."
