The Penrith Panthers, four-time defending NRL premiers, are facing a potential backline reshuffle for their season-opening game against the Sharks in Las Vegas, as star winger Brian To'o races to recover from a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season training.

With key players including Nathan Cleary returning from off-season surgery, the Panthers are already managing several minor injury concerns.

Coach Ivan Cleary had previously indicated that all injured players, including To'o, would likely take the field, but recent reports suggest To'o's availability is in doubt.

Veteran league journalist Peter Lang has revealed that To'o could be sidelined for a couple of weeks with a hamstring strain, prompting speculation about potential replacements.

One option is to move Luke Garner to the centres and Izack Tago to the wing, while another suggestion is to bring in Jesse McLean to fill To'o's spot on the wing, alongside his brother Casey.

Casey McLean impressed last season and earned a Test call-up for the Kiwis, solidifying his place in the Panthers' lineup.

His brother Jesse, who has experience on the wing, could step in to support the team if To'o is unable to play.

With the departure of Sunia Turuva, the McLean brothers could form a formidable wing partnership for Penrith in the upcoming season.
