Penisini Clears High Tackle Charge

Parramatta Eels centre Will Penisini has successfully appealed a careless high tackle charge at the NRL judiciary.

This incident occurred early during the Round 6 match, where Parramatta faced a disappointing defeat against the Gold Coast Titans.

While Penisini received a penalty for the tackle, he was not officially reported at the time. However, the NRL's match review committee later assigned him a Grade 1 charge.

During a brief hearing at NRL headquarters on Tuesday evening, the judiciary panel ruled in favour of Penisini, declaring him not guilty of the charge.

If found guilty, he would have faced a $2500 fine, with a reduced penalty of $1800 available for an early guilty plea.

The successful challenge is significant for Penisini, as it keeps him at just one offence on his record, allowing for reduced penalties if he is cited again this season.

The centre's presence will be crucial for Parramatta in the upcoming match against the Canterbury Bulldogs in Round 7.

With nearly a dozen players unavailable, the return of Sean Russell provides a much-needed boost to their backline.
