Sharks fans will have to wait a bit longer for Nicho Hynes' return, as he is set to miss at least another two weeks due to a calf injury.
Hynes was pulled from the team during their close victory over the Manly Sea Eagles last weekend following the injury.
Initially, it was thought that the talented halfback, a former Dally M Medal winner, would be sidelined for just a week.
However, coach Craig Fitzgibbon hinted during the post-match press conference that they wouldn't be hasty in bringing Hynes back.
According to reports from News Corp, it now appears he might be out for an additional two to three weeks as he works towards full recovery, with the Sharks keen to prevent aggravation of the injury.
Niwhai Puru is expected to maintain his role in Hynes' absence, having performed admirably against Manly, while Hynes' usual partner, Braydon Trindall, delivered an outstanding performance.
With Hynes out, he will miss upcoming matches against the St George Illawarra Dragons-who recently celebrated their first win in 15 games against the Brisbane Broncos-and the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland during Round 15.
If he remains uncertain for Round 16, the Sharks may choose to rest him against the Sydney Roosters, especially since a bye follows.
It is anticipated that he will return just in time for the matchup against the Broncos in Brisbane on July 4.
The Sharks will also be without Blayke Brailey, who faces a similar recovery period after fracturing his arm in the game against Manly.
