'Bigger than the game': The cultural evolution helping Hynes find his voice
Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes is enthusiastic about advancing his role as a First Nations leader, especially as he aims to return to the Indigenous All Stars team for the upcoming match.
Last year, Hynes had to miss the game due to a packed pre-season schedule and Cronulla's early trip to Las Vegas. However, he is determined to represent his heritage in this year's event, which will take place in Hamilton.
Hynes is among several prominent candidates vying for Indigenous selection, alongside his Sharks teammate Braydon Trindall, Cody Walker from South Sydney, and Gold Coast's Jayden Campbell, all competing for the halfback positions.
Since then, Hynes has become a prominent voice within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and is keen to strengthen his ties with First Nations communities during the upcoming camp.
He looks forward to reuniting with former Melbourne teammates as the Indigenous talents of the game gather for a significant event on the rugby league calendar.
