Chanel Harris-Tavita, a standout player for the New Zealand Warriors, has had his availability communicated to Super League clubs, assessing interest for a possible shift in 2027.

The talented playmaker is currently in the final year of his contract with the Warriors. Reports suggest he prefers shorter deals, opting for one-year contracts to keep his options broadly available.

According to Love Rugby League, Harris-Tavita is being promoted to clubs in both England and France, exploring a move in the upcoming season.

Despite this, Harris-Tavita is receiving significant offers from NRL teams, creating a challenge for any Super League side looking to secure his services without a substantial financial investment.

In related news, Warriors' player Luke Metcalf has confirmed his departure from the club, having agreed to a multi-year contract with the St George Illawarra Dragons.

With Metcalf's exit, which was announced on Thursday, this opens up a prime opportunity for Harris-Tavita to potentially claim the five-eighth position alongside Tanah Boyd if he decides to stay.

Making his NRL debut in 2019, Harris-Tavita has since played 101 games with the Warriors. His impressive form and skills on the field earned him 10 caps with the Samoa national team.

After taking a year off in 2023 to travel and reconnect with his love for rugby league, he subsequently signed a two-year extension with the Warriors.

The 27-year-old is undoubtedly a valuable asset for rival clubs and had previously been rumored to be heading to the North Queensland Cowboys before Jake Clifford's contract was renewed in Townsville.
