Star centre Leka Halasima, who suffered a hamstring strain during warm-ups before the Warriors' recent qualifying final loss to the Dolphins, may still feature if the team advances. Webster, while acknowledging Halasima's "highly doubtful" status, included him in the reserves list, hinting at his potential to contribute later in the finals. "He just went for a run, and when they trotted out, he felt something," Webster recounted.
In contrast, prop Jackson Ford has faced further setbacks after picking up an ankle injury upon returning from a significant 12-week recovery for a pectoral rupture. He has officially been ruled out for Sunday's clash. Webster also mentioned Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, who is recovering from collarbone surgery but has started contact training. "He's saying, 'No, give me an opportunity'," Webster noted about Watene-Zelezniak's eagerness to play.
Halfback Luke Metcalf is also sidelined with a hamstring injury as Morgan Gannon takes a spot on the bench. Drawing from his experience as an assistant coach during Penrith's successful 2021 campaign, Webster believes in perseverance despite recent disappointments.
