Brisbane Broncos star half Ben Hunt is facing a significant injury setback, with scans revealing he has torn his hamstring off the bone.
This injury will result in Hunt missing the first game of the 2025 State of Origin series and puts his availability for Game 2 in doubt.
Reports indicate that he will require approximately six weeks to recover.
Compounding the challenges for Brisbane, Jock Madden has also been injured, having torn his pectoral muscle, which will sideline him for three months.
Madden, who previously played for the Tigers, joined the Broncos aiming for a full-time position alongside Adam Reynolds, but his injury places him well down the depth chart at Red Hill.
Despite this, he could still be considered to replace Hunt.
Ezra Mam is currently the frontrunner to step in for Hunt, but coach Michael Maguire noted during his post-match press conference that there are no guarantees regarding the lineup following their unexpected loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Overall, the Broncos are facing a double blow with both key players out, which puts extra pressure on the team's halfback depth as they prepare for upcoming matches.
