In Wayne Bennett's 960th NRL match, the South Sydney Rabbitohs secured a pivotal 20-16 victory against the Parramatta Eels, moving closer to evading the wooden spoon.

Parramatta's halfback Mitchell Moses was reported twice during the match, while Jye Gray and Tallis Duncan played significant roles in leading the Rabbitohs to this unexpected win, positioning the team four points ahead of the Gold Coast Titans.

Although much attention was on Alex Johnston as he approached the all-time try scoring record, it was Gray and Duncan's impactful performances that ultimately decided the match.

Gray, known for his offensive skills, stood out by making two remarkable line-breaks, contributing one try assist, and logging over 200 run meters. However, it was his defense that truly shone.

With the Eels gaining momentum at the start of the second half, Gray helped turn the tide when his team trailed by two points. He made five crucial try-saving tackles, including two in quick succession against Isaiah Iongi and Dylan Walker.
