Melbourne Storm's captain Harry Grant felt he should have been awarded a try that was ultimately disallowed after replays revealed a minimal loose carry from the Maroons player.
Grant pursued his kick into the in-goal area just before half-time, seemingly grounding the ball, which could have brought them back into contention after trailing 22-0 early on.
However, a slight mistake in gathering the ball, which made contact with Brian To'o and was only evident after slow-motion replays, left the Storm needing four tries to catch the Panthers.
The Panthers showcased their skill, winning 22-14 and effectively concluding Storm's 2026 campaign.
The Storm missed several scoring chances throughout the game, despite having three Penrith players sent to the sin bin.
Grant expressed his confusion over the 'no try' decision, warning that the game risks losing its essence if every moment is scrutinized down to milliseconds for loose carries.
"I thought it was a try," Grant mentioned in his post-match comments.
