Former Canberra Raiders halfback George Williams is reportedly nearing a return to the NRL, with The Dolphins emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
Williams last played in the NRL in 2021 but has been performing well in the Super League this season, and is expected to earn a spot on the England national team for the upcoming Ashes series against Australia.
According to All Out Rugby League, Williams has informed officials at the Warrington Wolves that he will not re-sign, expressing a desire to return to the NRL.
Discussions between Williams and The Dolphins have intensified in recent weeks, as noted by The Daily Telegraph.
Currently, the Wolves are looking for a $400,000 transfer fee since Williams is under contract for another year.
However, a potential player swap involving playmaker Kodi Nikorima has also been proposed.
