Future Uncertain for Spencer Leniu

Trent Robinson Addresses Leniu Departure Speculation

This week, discussions about Spencer Leniu's future with the Sydney Roosters have gained momentum, particularly after notable reductions in his playing time since the victory over the Brisbane Broncos.

The 24-year-old prop has experienced a decline in his on-field minutes, with only 28 minutes played in Round 7, followed by 23 minutes in Round 8, and a mere 14 minutes in the most recent matchup against the Broncos.

This decrease in engagement has sparked concerns regarding his position within the Roosters' forward lineup, even though he is under contract until 2027.

Adding to the situation, interest from Papua New Guinea has surfaced, with the emerging club expressing they are "definitely interested" in acquiring his talents.

Despite still being under contract, formal negotiations with other teams cannot commence until November 1.

Amid rising speculation, Roosters coach Trent Robinson has called for caution regarding the chatter about player futures.

"I think you've gotta be careful that people don't buy into those conversations too much. Just cause one person said it doesn't mean it's true," he remarked.

"We know where we're at between Spenny and me, and the club and his management will keep rolling on as we do," he added.

Currently, Leniu remains a part of the Roosters, but with his playing time decreasing and outside interest increasing, his future will likely be a point of discussion as the November 1 player market approaches.
