At 34 years old, Tyson Frizell, a seasoned player in the NRL, remains active and hopeful for a 17th season, even as uncertainty surrounds his contract for next year.
This season has seen him excel, notably stepping into the front row for Newcastle during an unexpected victory over South Sydney.
Heading into a critical semi-final against the Warriors, Frizell is expected to maintain this position, especially with teammates Jacob Saifiti suspended and Trey Mooney sidelined due to injury.
Though he is yet to secure a new deal with Newcastle, discussions have occurred with Wests Tigers and another unidentified club.
Frizell expressed his desire to play next season, acknowledging that contract negotiations are tricky during finals. "I gave the club every opportunity to see what they can do," he noted.
His experience, with 303 NRL games, remains invaluable, particularly as many of his teammates are facing finals for the first time.
