The rugby league community was taken aback as a former star shed an impressive 33kg, revealing his determination to get back in shape.
At just 25 years old, he is currently earning $250,000 following his buyout with the Manly Sea Eagles in 2024.
According to The Daily Telegraph, two clubs have initiated discussions with ex-Manly and South Sydney backrower Josh Schuster regarding a potential train and trial contract.
Schuster aims to secure a contract before the June 30 deadline, allowing for a smoother transition into the off-season.
After his release from the Bunnies last year, Schuster's weight rose to 130kg; however, he has successfully trimmed down to 97kg.
While the clubs interested in him remain unconfirmed, they are anticipated to be based in Sydney.
Schuster is currently training five days a week, fueled by a strong desire to reclaim his place in the top tier.
After signing a multi-year deal with Manly, he was released shortly thereafter in April 2024, but Schuster is eager to work his way back into first grade to prove his capabilities once more.
In an appearance on James Graham's The Bye Round Podcast, Schuster shared insights about his life outside the NRL and what inspires him to return to rugby league.
