In a fresh controversy surrounding under-fire referee Ashley Klein, Brad Fittler has fired a shot at him, questioning the lack of a sin-binning for Melbourne in their controversial win over the Roosters.

Klein failed to spot a blatant knock-on from Harry Grant that resulted in a Storm try, as well as a high tackle on Grant that could have given Melbourne the lead.

NRL head of football Graham Annesley admitted that Klein made two crucial errors but did not comment on whether he would be dropped for the preliminary finals.

Adding to the referee's woes, Fittler believes he made another mistake that disadvantaged the Roosters.

Fittler raised the question of why Melbourne didn't have a player sent to the sin-bin after repeated infringements late in the second half.

The Storm conceded multiple six-agains and penalties against the Roosters before they were able to score a try.

Fittler argued that Klein should have taken action and sent someone to the bin.
