Fiji need to defeat New Zealand on the Gold Coast on Saturday to reach the World Cup semi-finals, following a 40-12 win over Cook Islands and a 36-22 loss to Australia.
Kurt Donoghoe says he is ready to play five-eighth for the Dolphins if required, after impressing in that defeat with three try assists.
His play helped Fiji lead 16-12 in the second half, and he was named man of the match.
Bati captain Api Koroisau said: "Honestly, he lifted this team tonight. He deserved that man-of-the-match and I have never seen anyone for Fiji in the six play better,"
Donoghoe mostly came off the bench for the Dolphins this year, helping them reach the preliminary final, and hopes to start next season.
The club has signed England captain George Williams to play five-eighth in 2027, with Williams also expected to cover halfback when Isaiya Katoa is in NSW camp.
Donoghoe told AAP: "I love both positions and I am happy to play in either for the Dolphins."
He said he was confident Fiji could beat New Zealand, adding, "For sure," when asked if the Bati could progress to the semi-finals.
