Fifita Nears Titans Exit Amid Contract Uncertainty

Conflicting reports suggest that David Fifita is nearing his departure from the Gold Coast Titans, with indications that he has likely played his final game for the club. However, any agreement with the South Sydney Rabbitohs is contingent upon the club freeing up a roster spot.

Fifita, who found himself sidelined under coach Des Hasler in 2025, still holds a contract with the Titans that extends through 2026. Nevertheless, it appears increasingly likely that he will leave the Gold Coast before the onset of the pre-season.

According to News Corp, the sole obstacle preventing a finalized deal between the Titans and the Rabbitohs is the need for roster adjustments at South Sydney, which also affects the Manly Sea Eagles.

This week, the Rabbitohs experienced a setback as Lewis Dodd departed for the Catalans Dragons, prompting them to fill his spot with Thomas Fletcher in next year's Top 30. Additionally, Jayden Sullivan is expected to remain with the club for another two years.

With Gerome Burns' retirement, the Rabbitohs find themselves in a balanced position regarding their roster.

This situation leaves South Sydney with two available spots, indicating that bringing in Fifita should not pose any major issues, even if they are unable to release Moale a year in advance.
