In a chaotic Easter Monday matchup, the Eels' Bailey Simonsson faced a horrific leg injury that forced him to the hospital, while a young Tigers player found himself in the bin.
With just 20 minutes left on the clock and the Eels down 18-10, Mitch Moses launched an attacking kick, prompting Simonsson to leap in an attempt to catch the ball.
In a similar bid, Tigers winger Luke Lahilii challenged Simonsson mid-air, leading to a tragic landing for the Eels star, who subsequently dislocated his ankle.
As the incident replayed on the big screen at CommBank Stadium, Eels captain Mitch Moses, already in a contentious exchange with referee Peter Gough throughout the match, was visibly upset while seeking a penalty.
"His ankle broke," Moses yelled at Gough.
"It's not a deliberate action. Just take a breath," Gough replied, defending his call.
