Samuela Fainu, a rising NRL star, found himself in hot water when he was pulled over by the police for yet another offence, adding to his already "horrific" driving record.
In a desperate attempt to avoid the latest charge, Fainu resorted to a sneaky move - he "switched seats," as reported by news.com.au.
According to the Sydney's Parramatta District Court, Fainu has been involved in seven speeding offences and has been caught driving while disqualified or suspended on three separate occasions during his short time behind the wheel.
The severity of his driving offences did not escape the attention of Judge Stephen Hanley, who described Fainu's record as "appalling."
Despite recently signing a lucrative $4 million deal with West Tigers, Fainu chose not to appeal his sentence for the most recent driving while disqualified offence.
Judge Hanley made it clear that Fainu's promising football career did not excuse him from his repeated transgressions.
In defense of his client, Fainu's lawyer, Sam Saadat, acknowledged the severity of his client's driving record, stating that he has a "horrific record for someone of his age." However, Saadat emphasized that Fainu is ultimately "a good kid who's made some mistakes."
