Emerging Halfback Shines Amid Injury Woes

With Tom Dearden sidelined due to injury, the door is open for a potential debutant in the halfback position, and former player Corey Parker has weighed in on who he believes is the best fit.

Last year, Queensland made the difficult decision to drop veteran Daly Cherry-Evans, allowing Dearden to step in and ultimately earn the Wally Lewis Medal, leading the Maroons to a series victory.

Now that Dearden may miss the entire series, coach Billy Slater faces another pivotal selection moment.

One of the standout candidates in this situation is Tanah Boyd, considered the form halfback of the competition, who has showcased impressive game management and kicking precision.

Parker asserts that Boyd is the safest and most well-rounded choice for the Maroons' needs.

"Tanah Boyd is a stable (pick)," Parker stated on SENQ Breakfast.

"Kicks long, makes his tackles, rips in, has a crack, got a wonderful kicking game, because Sam Walker's long kicking game is not ideal."

"Munster's kicking game in the series last year wasn't ideal either, if you remember."

In addition to Boyd, another name in the mix for a debut is Sam Walker, whose inventive approach and unpredictable play style make him one of the more dangerous attacking halves in the league.
