The Parramatta Eels are preparing to take legal action against Zac Lomax, their former winger, following complications in negotiations regarding his intended move to the rugby union competition R360.
Parramatta asserts that when they agreed to release Lomax from his contract, it included a stipulation preventing him from joining a rival NRL club without their consent until 2028.
Recently, the Eels announced that mediation talks with Lomax and the Melbourne Storm had collapsed, leading them to escalate the situation to the NSW Supreme Court.
"It is disappointing that we have reached this position, but we have an obligation to the club's stakeholders to protect the contractual rights of the club," stated Eels chairman Matthew Beach.
Lomax appeared ready to join the new rugby union league, but uncertainties arose when the R360's launch was postponed from 2026 to 2028, leaving him in a precarious situation.
