An outside back for the Parramatta Eels has reportedly requested a release from the club, even though he is under contract through the end of the 2027 NRL season.
Bailey Simonsson, one of the first players extended by Jason Ryles after he took over as coach last year, has proven to be a consistent and reliable player in the club's backline for the past four seasons.
Previously a member of the Canberra Raiders, the injury-prone player just celebrated his 100-game milestone. However, he has faced limited playing time recently, appearing in only two first-grade matches since Round 10.
Although he was expected to be called up this week after scoring four tries in the NSW Cup, he was ultimately overlooked in favor of Jordan Samrani. Now, reports from NRL Tonight indicate that he has requested a release from the Parramatta Eels.
The reasons behind his decision remain unclear at this time.
While he has not been linked to any other teams, he does have connections to the Gold Coast Titans, owing to his close relationship with former Raiders teammate Harley Smith-Shields.
